You should keep Find My enabled, and your iPhone should still be associated with Apple ID during the loss or theft claim process. Disabling Find My can result in the loss and theft of all coverage. Participation in the iPhone Upgrade Program is not contingent on you purchasing AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss.
